Patrice Volny has openly committed to proving himself worthy of his nickname “Vicious” on June 6, before his fight against Steven Butler. This bout, held at the Cabaret du Casino in Montreal is cheduled for ten rounds. The WBC Francophone middleweight belt is on the line, offering the winner a chance to shine on a worldwide stage.
Camille Estephan, president of Eye of the Tiger Management, expressed excitement about the fight. “We are excited to present this fight, a significant battle that has relevance both locally and internationally,” he said. Their objective is to boost Steven Butler’s international stature by confirming his supremacy locally.
Steven Butler, with a record of 34 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw, is aggressively pushing forward in 2024. Having quickly beaten Steve Rolls in just over a minute last March, Butler aims to strengthen his position as Canada’s leading middleweight by defeating his national rival, Patrice Volny.
“It’s all professional. I will establish myself as the undisputed 160-pound king in Quebec,” Butler stated coolly.
This upcoming fight poses tough challenges for both fighters. BoxRec lists Butler as the 14th best middleweight globally, with Volny close behind at 20th. Returning to the Montreal ring after nearly seven years, Volny last impressed by defeating DeAndre Ware in February’s last round.
“I have lived up to my ‘Vicious’ nickname,” Volny declared, ready to dominate the Quebec middleweight division.
