The upcoming bout between Liam Wilson and Oscar Valdez just got a whole lot bigger. The World Boxing Organisation (WBO) has thrown in its interim super featherweight world title into the mix, turning this weekend’s showdown in Glendale into a fight with massive implications for the division.
With Emanuel Navarrete eyeing a jump up in weight, the victor between Wilson and Valdez will catapult into the mix with the likes of O’Shaquie Foster, Joe Cordina, and Lamont Roach, shaping the future of the super featherweight class.
The WBO has laid out the stakes clearly: should Navarrete clinch the WBO Lightweight title and choose to stick around in that division, our interim super featherweight champ from this fight will be crowned the full champion.
Wilson is out for blood and redemption this Saturday, a year on from his debated loss to Navarrete at the same venue, a fight infamous for its elongated 29-second count. Meanwhile, Valdez, a celebrated Olympian and a force in Mexican boxing, brings with him a high-caliber team, including the likes of Canelo Alvarez and the esteemed trainer Eddie Reynoso.
The evening’s second headliner sees Seniesa Estrada and Yokasta Valle vying for the undisputed minimumweight title. This clash, brewing with anticipation, sets the stage for a historic 12-round battle, brought to life by Golden Boy Promotions and MarvNation Promotions.

Valdez, a proud son of Nogales with Olympic appearances in 2008 and 2012, clinched world titles in two weight classes. His journey saw him overcoming Matias Rueda for the WBO featherweight title in 2016 and dethroning Miguel Berchelt for the WBC junior lightweight title in 2021. Following a tough bout against Robson Conceição and a unification clash with Shakur Stevenson, Valdez looks to rebound from a recent defeat at the Desert Diamond Arena.
Wilson, with a five-year pro career and an initial 9-0 streak, seeks to bounce back from a recent defeat, viewing the Valdez bout as a golden opportunity for redemption.
On the other side, Estrada, with an illustrious career spanning three weight divisions, sets her sights on undisputed status in the minimumweight division, dismissing Valle as unworthy of her titles.
