BoxWise, the stellar youth project under the Nick Maughan Foundation’s umbrella, has a mission worth talking about. They’re all about throwing a one-two punch against knife crime while offering a lifeline to the younger generation. The goal? Helping them duck the temptations of street gangs and swing towards a brighter tomorrow.
How, you ask? Offering free boxing training (led by top-contender England Boxing coaches, no less), an escape from the noise of the streets, a warm meal post-training (because who doesn’t love a good post-fight munch?), and guidance towards positive work and study avenues tailored for each young champ.
BoxWise’s reputation is such that it’s drawing the eye of big names from the boxing scene. And guess what? The latest to lace up and join the BoxWise corner is none other than the great boxing promoter, Frank Warren!
Quick rewind: Frank stepped into the boxing ring of business promoting a pair of lesser-known American heavyweights. Fast-forward a few years, and he’s now promoted the likes of Tyson Fury, Ricky Hatton, and Naseem Hamed to name a few.
Frank commented: ‘BoxWise is the most significant boxing charity of our generation, and I am honoured to join the advisory board. I am also proud to offer my financial support going forward as the organisation evolves from NMF to becoming a registered charity. Boxing has given me more than I can express, and I understand the deeply transformative power the sport holds, both in and out of the ring. I look forward to contributing to BoxWise’s mission, empowering young people to build their confidence and maximise all opportunities available to them, fostering a positive change within our communities from the ground up.’
