Terri Harper squares off with Cecilia Braekhus on October 7th at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena on the undercard of Wood vs Warrington. A battle for the WBA and WBO Super-Welterweight World Titles live on DAZN.

Harper, a local legend and former WBC and IBO Super-Featherweight World Champion, holds a proud record of 13-1-1 with 6 KOs. She’s got fire, she’s got skill, and after defeating Hannah Rankin last year, she’s got the WBA 154lbs World Title.

All the way from Norway, Braekhus, a former undisputed ruler at 147lbs, isn’t here to play. She’s been at the top, holding the WBC and WBA World Titles at Welterweight from 2009 to 2020. And now, she’s eyeing a two-division World Champion title. That’s right, 37 wins, 2 losses, 9 KOs, and she’s just getting started.

Harper’s not just excited; she’s pumped. It’s not just about the titles; it’s about proving her skills, about a ‘passing of the baton’, as she puts it. She sees this fight as a crucial step towards becoming the undisputed champion. She’s grateful, she’s prepared, and she’s ready to give her hometown crowd a night to remember.

Braekhus? She’s not backing down. She’s tasted defeat in Sheffield before, but this time, she’s hungry for victory. It’s her time to shine, and she knows it.

Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Sport Chairman, says it best: “I’m delighted to announce the chief support bout for what will be a monster night of World Title action on Saturday, October 7.” Two champions, one ring, titles on the line – need we say more?

Terri Harper:

“I truly appreciate the opportunity to reschedule this fight. The stakes are higher now with an additional belt in play. Plus, having the support of a local audience means a lot. Come Saturday, while I respect her vast experience and recognize her as one of the best in the division, I need to leverage my youth, agility, and speed. I’m prepared to give it my all.

“Cecilia tends to dictate the rhythm of her fights. She’s skilled, especially with her jab. My plan? Neutralize that jab. Once I do, I’ll keep the pressure on. In the heat of the fight, mutual respect is set aside; she’s the barrier between me and my dreams. However, post-fight, that respect will be wholeheartedly expressed.”

Tickets range from £40 to £400 (VIP), with special sales for Matchroom Fight Pass members starting 10am on August 3. General sale tickets? They’re available from 10am on August 4 via Stage Front and Utilita Arena Sheffield’s website.
