Wildheart vs. Nicolson: WBC Interim World Title Fight, Dublin, November 25

Lucy Wildheart, previously a World title contender, is making her much-talked-about comeback to the boxing ring to take on Skye Nicolson, the WBC Interim World Featherweight Champion. The significant fight is all set to take place in the ever-vibrant city of Dublin.

Scheduled on November 25th, this exciting fight is a part of Matchroom Boxing’s grand event at the 3Arena in Dublin. The main event for the evening? Katie Taylor versus Chantelle Cameron in their return fight.

Lucy, originally hailing from Växjö, Sweden, but now calling Chelmsford, Essex home, ranks third globally by the WBC. Her sights have been firmly set on a duel with the recently crowned Champion Nicolson. It’s worth noting that Nicolson secured her title after a decisive win over Sabrina Perez in Tijuana, Mexico, just the previous month.

Earlier in the year, in April, Lucy Wildheart confidently stepped up with barely any notice to challenge the American sensation, Mikael Mayer, for the Vacant WBC Interim World Lightweight Championship. This was after Mayer’s first-choice opponent, Christina Linardatou, faced disqualification by the BBBofC. Even with just two days of preparation and competing two divisions above her usual class at the Copper Box Arena in London, Wildheart displayed true grit. She took Mayer through all ten rounds, only to be defeated by a decision on the scorecards.

Now under the guidance of Samm Mullins at Churchill’s Gym in London, Wildheart couldn’t be more excited about her upcoming opportunity. Expressing her sentiments, she stated, “All my career, I’ve been gearing up for this exact moment – to vie for the world title in my division. A hearty thanks to Matchroom for letting me be part of such a significant event and allowing me to share the platform with other pioneering ladies in the sport.”

Adding to the excitement, Wildheart’s chief, Richard Maynard, the main man behind Strike Sports Management, voiced his enthusiasm. “Lucy has had her eyes set on a fight against Skye for what feels like ages. It’s fantastic that we managed to secure this fight with Matchroom without a hitch,” he said. He also emphasized, “The upcoming Dublin event is going to be one for the books, being telecast live on DAZN and featuring as one of the most significant events of the year, all thanks to the Taylor-Cameron 2 fight card.”
