Turki Alalshikh, the head honcho at the General Entertainment Authority, has dropped news on the undercard for Fury vs Usyk’s historic “Ring of Fire” brawl on May 18.
Jai Opetaia, the Aussie bruiser, fresh off his victory in December, is set to square off again with Mairis Briedis, the three-time cruiserweight champ, in a pulse-pounding rematch for the IBF championship and Ring Magazine title. Their last scrap in July 2022 had fans on their feet as Opetaia snatched the belts from the fierce Latvian.
Welsh warrior Joe Cordina is staking his IBF super featherweight title against Anthony Cacare, the IBO champ from Northern Ireland. And there’s more heavyweight fury with Agit Kabayel and Frank Sanchez, both unblemished in their records, colliding in a WBC Final Eliminator after their knockout wins in December.
Mark Chamberlain, the UK’s powerhouse lightweight, returns to Riyadh to take on Nigeria’s menacing Joshua Oluwaseun Wahab. And in a clash of titans, Sergey Kovalev, the ex-light heavyweight king, faces off against the stalwart Robin Sirwan Safar at cruiserweight.
Watch out for Moses Itauma, the young heavyweight prodigy, as he duels with Ilja Mezencev. Plus, David Nyika and Michael Seitz throw down at cruiserweight, and Isaac Lowe tangles with Hasibullah Ahmadi in the featherweight division.
