Serhii Bohachuk Gets Hero’s Welcome In Mexico City

After overpowering Brian Mendoza in a unanimous decision victory across twelve rounds in Las Vegas, Serhii Bohachuk traveled to Mexico City for the ceremonial awarding of the WBC Interim Super Welterweight title belt. The Ukrainian pugilist, boasting a record of 24-1 with 23 KOs, was honored by WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman and Vice-President Alberto Leon.

During his two-day stay in the capital, Bohachuk, who is based in Los Angeles, engaged in a series of media interviews and visited injured Ukrainian soldiers, reflecting on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Accompanied by his promoter Tom Loeffler from 360 Promotions, Bohachuk expressed his gratitude for the warm reception: “Mexico City welcomed me with open arms; the visit was packed with fan interactions and media commitments. The fighting spirit of the Mexican people resonates with the Ukrainian valor.”

At the press conference, Sulaiman praised Bohachuk’s role as an ambassador for the WBC and his potential future contributions to boxing. “Serhii embodies the spirit and skill that make a true world champion,” Sulaiman remarked during the title presentation.

Stated Mauricio Sulaiman while presenting Bohachuk with his new title belt, “We are very proud of Serhii Bohachuk, our new Interim World Champion. Loeffler highlighted the trip’s success, noting Bohachuk’s popularity among fans and his poignant meetings with Ukrainian diplomatic and military representatives, adding a personal touch with a mention of Bohachuk’s brother serving in the Ukrainian military.

“It was a tremendous trip for Serhii Bohachuk to Mexico City to officially receive his new World Championship Belt. Serhii was a big hit with the fans and media in Mexico City and did numerous TV and newspaper interviews,” said Tom Loeffler. “Serhii also got a chance to meet the Ukrainian Ambassador to Mexico as well as two recovering Ukrainian military men. This was especially poignant for Serhii with his brother currently in the Ukrainian military protecting his country.
