Orlando Gonzalez is set to throw down with Jorge Castaneda on ProBox TV’s Wednesday Night Fights tomorrow night. They’re gearing up for a 10-round showdown in the super featherweight division, taking center stage in Plant City, Florida.
Gonzalez, with a record of 21-2 and 12 KOs, left fans on the edge of their seats in a fight everyone’s still talking about, where he outpointed Ramiro Cesena this past July. Castaneda (16-2, 12 KOs), isn’t lagging behind, coming off a knockout win against Nestor Medellin in August.
Chris Algieri, the ex-world champ and the voice of WNF, broke down the upcoming scrap.
“Castaneda’s no joke, he’s always looking to shake things up,” Algieri shared. “He handed Otha Jones III his first loss, and that kid was a hotshot amateur snapped up by Matchroom. Lots of noise around Jones, but Castaneda shut that down. Sure, he’s had a couple of tough breaks, like that wild fight with Eduardo Hernandez, who just had a killer fight with O’Shaquie Foster. Castaneda’s record’s got a few dents, but he’s been in there with some real tough guys. That’s the kind of fighter we love to have on WNF.
“We’ve seen what Orlando Gonzalez can do on our network. He brings the heat every time, just like in his last brawl with Cesena. He’s coming to keep that fire burning. Stepping into the ProBox ring for the third time? That’s a big deal. We don’t do easy fights here. Anyone stepping into our ring is stepping into a battle. Gonzalez knows it, and he’s up for the challenge. But hey, don’t count out Castaneda. He’s fresh off a win, taking down an undefeated guy last time, bouncing back from a first-round knockout loss. He’s hungry, and he’s got a lot to show. Both these fighters do.
