Lamont Roach Jr. (24-1-1, 9 KOs), the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Featherweight Champion, will defend his belt against #12 WBA-ranked Feargal McCrory (16-0, 8 KOs) at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, DC on Friday, June 28.

The event, promoted by NoXcuse Promotions and led by Lamont Roach Sr., will showcase Roach Jr. defending his crown in his hometown for the first time. Tickets range from $75 to $500 and will soon be available through Ticketmaster. Select fights will be streamed live on ProBox TV. Doors open at 6 pm, with the first bell ringing at 6:30 pm.

Roach Jr., a National Golden Gloves and USA Boxing Youth National Championship gold medalist, snagged his WBA belt after narrowly beating Héctor García in November, even knocking García down in the final round for good measure. The victory came four years after Roach Jr. lost his first title fight to Jamel Hamel.

Roach Jr. expressed excitement about the upcoming fight, saying, “Coming home to defend my title is a dream come true, and I can’t wait to fight in front of so many friends and family. I know he’s (McCrory) coming for my world title, wanting to keep his ‘0’ and make a name for himself.”

Meanwhile, McCrory, now based in Brooklyn, NY, recently claimed the WBA Continental America’s Super Feather Championship by dispatching Carlos Carlson with a third-round TKO in March at Madison Square Garden Theatre.

Gary Jonas, owner of ProBoxTV, highlighted the collaboration with the Roach family: “ProBoxTV is excited about working with Lamont Roach Sr. and Jr. Both are a success story in and out of the ring. They want to fight in DC in front of their people, and we’re excited to put on a solid championship production.”

The co-main event features unbeaten Lester Martinez (17-0, 15 KOs) facing Carlos Gongora (22-2, 17 KOs) in a 10-round super welterweight battle, while former world champion Joshua Franco (18-2-3, 8 KOs) takes on Geraldo Valdez (16-1, 11 KOs) in a 10-round super flyweight fight.

Flyweight Jordan Roach, Lamont’s 20-year-old brother, and welterweight Benjamin Johnson, both making their pro debuts, will electrify fans. Jordan, a 7-time national champion, has racked up a bronze medal and a spot as the #1 seed in the 2024 Olympic Trials. Johnson, a 12-time national amateur champion, is considered the country’s top prospect.
