Universal Promotions is gearing up to showcase its successful “UP Boxing Series” in the “Capital City” on Saturday, March 30th, at the Coliseito Pedrín Zorrilla in San Juan. The event will feature the FECARBOX champion of the World Boxing Council at 118 pounds, Juan Zayas (8-0-1, 8KO’s), the Continental Champion of America of the World Boxing Association, Néstor Bravo (22-0, 15KO’s), and the sensational super lightweight boxer, John Bauza (17-1, 7KO’s), as the main attractions of the “Champions Night”.

“We’re set for a thrilling night of boxing in San Juan,” said promoter Javier Bustillo. “We’re grateful to Miguel Romero, mayor of San Juan, for letting us bring Puerto Rico’s finest boxing to Coliseo Pedrín Zorrilla. It’ll be an evening filled with international championship fights, where fans will get to see the country’s future world champions in action.”

In the night’s main event, the boxer from Bayamón, Juan Zayas, will aim to defend his title for the second time, facing Oscar Mujica.

“I’m excited and thankful for the chance to defend my title again,” said Zayas. “Mujica is an excellent fighter, but on March 30th, he’ll have to go up against Juan Zayas. I’m here to do my job and secure the win. We want to climb higher in the world rankings and show everyone that I belong among the world’s top fighters.”

In the co-main event, Néstor Bravo will seek to claim the top spot in the WBA’s world rankings in the super lightweight division, defending his belt against Carlos Portillo.

“I’m focused on my March 30th fight,” said Bravo, who is currently ranked fourth in the world at 140 pounds. “I’m ready to defend my title and earn that top ranking spot. After March 30th, my sights will be set on Rolando Romero, Ismael Barroso, or whoever holds the world championship at that time. I’m just waiting for March 30th to arrive.”

Returning to fight in Puerto Rico after an eight-year hiatus, John Bauza aims to put on a strong performance in his first bout under the Universal Promotions banner, as he seeks to climb back up the world rankings.

Meanwhile, Alfredo “El Salsero” Cruz (8-2-1, 4KO’s) will have the chance to fight “in his own backyard” when he takes on Alberto “Pupo” Nieves (6-3-1, 4KO’s).

Additionally, Brian “The Hunter” Polaco (6-0, 4KO’s), Jean Carlos Cabral (5-0, 3KO’s), Jayron “El Fenix” Santiago (11-10-1, 6KO’s), Julien López (3-0, 2KO’s), Gabriel Planell (1-0, 1KO), Edgar Morales (1-0, 1KO), Chris “El Alfa” Vélez, among others, will be active on the card.
