Johnny Fisher vs Dmytro Bezus on Benn – Dobson undercard

Johnny Fisher is all revved up to throw down with Dmytro Bezus at The Chelsea in The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, come Saturday, February 3, with the whole shebang streaming live on DAZN worldwide. The chap from Britain, known for his knockout power, is itching to stretch his KO run, eyeing a slew of title bouts in 2024.

Vegas is about to light up starting 11am PT/7pm UK, building up to the headliner – Conor Benn vs. Peter Dobson – expected to enter the fray around 2.30pm PT/10.30pm UK.

Fisher (10-0 9 KOs), making his grand entrance on American soil, is pumped to kick things into high gear after jam-packing three bouts into the last five months of 2023. Dubbed ‘The Romford Bull’, he snagged his first strap in August, laying Harry Armstrong to rest at The O2 in London, nabbing the Southern Area Heavyweight title. A bit of a hiccup with a hand injury, but under Mark Tibbs’ watchful eye, the knockout maestro is back in fighting form.

With his eyes on the prize, the 24-year-old aims to duke it out at least four times in 2024, with the English and British titles in his crosshairs. But first, he’s got to deal with Bezus (10-1 5 KOs) over eight rounds. The Ukrainian’s no stranger to British foes, having crossed gloves with David Adeleye in London this past February.

“This year’s looking up,” Fisher enthused. “Had a chinwag with Eddie before the holidays, laid out a game plan. Don’t want to get ahead of ourselves, but we’ve got our sights on the English and British crowns.

“Nabbing the Southern Area title off Harry was a bit of a coup – it’s got a storied history, might not ring a bell outside the ring, but it’s a badge of honor among us pugilists. Harry and I threw down a barnburner for it, even bagged the Southern Area title fight of the year.

“That was just the beginning. We’re on a mission to climb the ranks, aiming for the English and British, and who knows, maybe a world title tilt down the line. Could be three, four, five years, or maybe we get lucky in 18 months. Just gotta keep grinding and winning.

“Aiming for three, ideally four scraps this year. Had to take a breather after August, nurse a niggly hand injury. Gotta take care of the mitts, right? So, fingers crossed, we’re looking at four bouts – Vegas, then back home around April or May, another in late summer, and one more before the year’s out. But hey, best-laid plans and all that, gotta roll with the punches.

Fisher’s showdown with Bezus is just part of a Brit-laden fight night in Vegas, with Welterweight sensation Conor Benn squaring off against Peter Dobson in the marquee bout.

Before the bell rings, Tony Sims’ Middleweight protégés, George Liddard and Jimmy Sains, will warm up the crowd from 11am PT. Liddard’s up against Andrew Buchanan for six rounds, while Sains tangles with Alejandro Avalos over four.

The main card kicks off with Light-Heavyweight hotshot Khalil Coe over eight rounds against Juan Gerardo Osuna, and the co-main event features Austin Williams defending his IBF North American Middleweight title against Armel Mbumba-Yassa.
