JOHN RYDER, EX-WBO INTERIM SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPION:

“Training in Los Angeles is tough, being away from my two kids and partner, but sacrifices are necessary.”

“I aim to make a bold statement in this fight. I want the biggest names and the biggest fights. There’s no better comeback than headlining in the U.S. against a talent like Munguía.”

“Since fighting Canelo, I’ve evolved. I learned a lot and wish I had this experience a decade ago. But I’m here now, more determined than ever!”

Tickets for the Munguía-Ryder showdown hit the market on Thursday, December 7 at 10:00 a.m. MST, with prices ranging from $30 to $200, plus fees. For those looking for something extra, Golden Boy is offering a limited number of VIP Experience tickets, complete with special merchandise and fight night perks. Grab your tickets at Ticketmaster.com or GoldenBoyPromotions.com.

Jaime Munguía, buzzing with excitement, said, “I can’t wait to step back into the ring, especially in Phoenix, my people’s city. We’re ready for Ryder’s challenge. Our training hasn’t stopped. And with Freddie Roach joining my team, expect an unforgettable night of boxing. If we ace this test, I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again in May. Viva Tijuana and Viva Mexico!”

Munguía, last seen dominating in June 2023 to win the WBC Silver Super Middleweight Championship against tough contender Sergiy Derevyanchenko, is known for his previous reign as WBO Super Welterweight champion from 2018 to 2019, defending it five times.

John Ryder, equally geared up for the fight, remarked, “I’m thrilled this fight is on. I’m starting 2024 with a bang and plan to make a statement on January 27.”

Ryder, known for his incredible resilience, notably lasted the full distance against current, undisputed world champ Canelo Alvarez in May 2023. With a track record of taking down top fighters like Daniel Jacobs in 2022, he’s currently Ring Magazine’s No. 5 super middleweight.

Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO, confidently stated, “January 27 marks the rise of the next Mexican boxing icon, Jaime Munguía. Fans, whether at the venue or on DAZN, should not miss Munguía doing what Canelo couldn’t — knocking out John Ryder.”

Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Chairman, excitedly noted, “We’re delighted to bring John another major fight. After facing Canelo in Guadalajara, John is ready for Munguía. Jaime’s a rising star, but we believe John will be his toughest fight yet and are confident of John’s victory.”

Alfie Sharman, VP of DAZN, announced, “The wait is finally over. This fight is a major event for the UK. The initial interest was huge, and now it’s even more intense. DAZN is proud to broadcast this top-tier fight, live and exclusively.”
