He’s squaring off against the reigning BBB of C English welterweight champion, Danny Ball (13-1-1, 6 KOs), in a gripping 10-round showdown for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental Welterweight Championship.

Donovan, brimming with confidence, shared his vision: “Winning this fight gets me the WBA Continental title and the 15th rank by the WBA. I’m eyeing a few title defenses, then a shot at the world title by late next year or early 2025. I’ve known Katie Taylor since my teens, and she’s a true gem of a person. Having trained together, her support means the world to me.”

Hailing from Limerick and now training in Dublin under the tutelage of former WBO World Middleweight Champion “Irish” Andy Lee (35-3-1, 24 KOs), Donovan enjoys a unique edge. His connection with Lee has opened doors to train alongside Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), the unbeaten lineal and reigning WBC World Heavyweight Champion.

Fury, impressed by Donovan’s prowess, remarked, “Paddy Donovan is a rising star in Irish boxing. He’s got the talent, the power, and the smarts, all honed by Andy Lee. I see him going all the way to the top!”

Donovan, a native of Ennis, County Clare, is a formidable southpaw with a record of explosive victories. He’s a two-time Irish National Champion and a gold medalist at the 2017 International Tournament in London. Since turning pro in 2019 with a knockout win over Arturo Lopez, Donovan has climbed the ranks, recently securing a knockout victory over Sam O’Maison.

Managed by New York City-based attorney Keith Sullivan and Andy Lee, Donovan’s potential is being steered with expertise. Sullivan expressed his belief in Donovan’s world champion capabilities, citing his need for time and top-level experience.

Off the ring, Donovan champions suicide prevention and mental health awareness, dedicating his fight to these causes in memory of his relatives. Through this platform, he supports Pieta, a charity offering mental health services in Ireland, highlighting the importance of the Pietra Crisis Helpline.

As fight night approaches, Donovan stands ready to make a statement, not just in the ring, but also in the hearts of those he fights for.
