Golden Boy Promotions is adding another rising star to its roster, announcing the signing of super featherweight prospect Daniel “Ikaika” Luna (2-0, 2 KOs) from Victorville, California. Luna, 21, is a blend of Mexican and Hawaiian heritage, and the name “Ikaika” — which means “strong warrior” in Polynesian — is not just a middle name but an embodiment of his fighting spirit.

Having laced up the gloves since the age of 5, Luna is no stranger to the ring. Under the watchful eye of his father, Daniel Luna Sr., he carved out an impressive amateur career, racking up over 100 fights, clinching five National Championships, and earning Silver Gloves honors. Now, as a pro, he’s already making noise, capturing both his fights by knockout since his debut in May 2022.

“I am thrilled to embark on this new chapter with Golden Boy,” said Luna. “They’ve proven their mettle in building world champions, especially here in Southern California. A huge thanks to Oscar, Eric, and my entire team for making this happen. I’m eager to showcase my skills under the Golden Boy banner on September 7.”

Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, expressed his enthusiasm for the new signee. “I’ve had my eye on Daniel since he was a young gun at 14, and he’s never ceased to impress me. The guy not only looks the part outside the ring but turns into a pure knockout artist once he steps inside it. We’ve got the blueprint to channel his raw ability into championship-caliber talent. Get ready for fireworks come September 7.”

For a sneak peek at Luna’s explosive power, his last knockout, which went viral, is available for viewing HERE from May 24, 2023.
