Cayden Griffiths Turns Professional September 15 On Top Rank Card In Corpus Christi, Texas

Cayden Griffiths, a boxing wunderkind with a list of amateur accolades as long as his reach, is all set to make his professional debut in the super lightweight division on September 15, 2023. The venue is the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, and the bout will be streamed live on ESPN+, under the promotional banner of Top Rank.

The 17-year-old Griffiths has been preparing for this moment under the tutelage of trainers Joel Diaz and Antonio Diaz in Indio, California. Managed by Vadim Kornilov and Alik Frolov, Griffiths expressed his excitement and gratitude, stating, “I’ve been grinding away in the gym, sharing the ring in sparring sessions with some of the sport’s elite. A big shoutout to my team and to Top Rank for making this dream a reality.”

Among the luminaries Griffiths has sparred with are former world champion Murodjon ‘MJ’ Akhmadaliev, Brandon Figueroa, Batyr Akhmedov, Brandun Lee, Tito Acosta, Elnur Abduraimov, Hasanboy Dusmatov, and Jesus Martinez.

Griffiths’ manager Vadim Kornilov sang praises of his young charge, saying, “Cayden has the full package. He’s got incredible talent inside the ring and marketability outside of it. His sparring sessions against top-notch opponents show he’s more than ready for the pro game.”

Cayden Griffiths’ trophy case from his amateur days is already brimming with achievements. He is a Gold Medalist at the Junior Olympics National Championship, a Five-Time California State Champion, Two-Time National Qualifier Champion, National PAL Champion, National Silver Gloves Champion, Junior Golden Gloves Champion, and a Two-Time Junior Olympic Silver Medalist.

The main event of the evening on September 15 will be an IBF Featherweight World Title fight between Luis Alberto Lopez and Joet Gonzalez.
