BCB Promotions is super excited to share that Omarah Taylor, a star from the GB Amateur boxing team, is joining the professional world! She’s stepping into the ring for her first pro fight on December 20th at the Eastside Rooms in Birmingham.

Omarah, who’s 30, grew up in Great Barr, Birmingham, but now she’s living in Sandwell. Her journey to boxing is pretty cool – she saw this ad after the 2016 Rio Olympics from UK Sports’ “Discover Your Gold” campaign. This big-deal initiative, started by the famous Sir Steve Redgrave, was looking for hidden gems in sports, including women’s boxing. Guess what? Omarah beat thousands of other hopefuls and got a spot on the fancy GB boxing squad!

Her amateur boxing days were amazing. She rocked it all the way to the later rounds of the National Championships, just missing the top spot in the final against Cindy Ngamba. With twenty-seven fights under her belt, she decided it was time to join the pros.

Omarah shared, “Not winning was tough, but I learned a lot over six or seven years, training with super talented fighters and coaches. Now that I’m thirty, turning pro feels just right. Women’s boxing is getting more respect and attention than ever, so it’s the perfect time!”

Even though she’s new to pro boxing, Omarah’s already a hot name. She’s sparred with some of the world’s best boxers, like Clarissa Shields, Chantelle Cameron, Natasha Jonas, and Sandy Ryan. “I’ve learned heaps from these experiences and I’m bringing all of that to my first fight,” she said.

Omarah’s been traveling a lot, but the Midlands is her heart’s home. She trains in Wolverhampton with coach Joby Clayton, alongside Olympic silver medallist Ben Whittaker and heavyweight hopeful Emanuel Odiase.

When she’s not boxing, Omarah runs her own organic superfood company, One Self Well Being, with her partner and also works in security. She’s all about her business but dreams big about becoming a world champion. “December 20th is just the beginning of an awesome journey,” she says with confidence.

Errol Johnson, her manager, is thrilled about Omarah joining. “She’s a top-contender from her amateur days, and she fits perfectly with our team. We’ve got a bunch of talented female boxers, and Omarah is a fantastic addition,” he said.
