Flores, at the ripe age of 23 (22-2, 8 KOs), is striding into the ring for the first time in 2024, heralding the launch of G-Squad Entertainment, a new promotional venture helmed by his dad, Gabe Flores Sr. This former amateur prodigy, who turned pro at 16 with a record of 98-7, is now strutting his stuff in the fight capital, Las Vegas, though his roots are firmly planted in Stockton. His previous tussles in Stockton Arena are the stuff of legend – think iconic knockouts and ESPN SportsCenter glory.
Flores Jr. is also the magnet behind two sell-out spectacles at the Adventist Health Arena.
Recalling his last bout in the same arena, Flores Jr. made quick work of Derrick Murray, wrapping it up in a mere 27 seconds. This time, he’s gearing up for a ten-round showdown.
Flores shared his thoughts on the comeback: “The energy from my Stockton fans fuels me. It’s a rush that keeps me going,” he said. “The thrill of a WBA title in the mix just amps up my game. Every fight gets my adrenaline pumping, but this? This is the start of something monumental. I can’t wait for March 16th.”
The evening’s co-main attraction? The electrifying Fernando Vargas Jr. (13-0, 12 KOs) in a junior middleweight bout. Son of the Oxnard icon, Fernando Vargas Sr., Vargas Jr. packs a punch that’s sending shockwaves through the sport.
Keeping the Vargas flame alight, super featherweight Amado Vargas (10-0, 4 KOs) will also grace the ring. Another offspring of Fernando Vargas Sr., he’s sharing the card with his brother, Vargas Jr., and training buddy, Flores Jr.
Adding to the night’s excitement is the pro debut of Sacramento’s own Lorenzo Powell, a celebrated amateur turning pro on this very G-Squad Entertainment card.
