Live Boxing Tonight: Evelin Bermudez Vs. Kim Clavel at Place Bell in Laval, Canada

This Saturday’s “The Reconquest” fight card in Laval, Canada is presented by Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) in collaboration with O.R. Promotions and brought to you by Mise-O-Jeu and Bell Media, it’s promising to be an absolute belter.

Kim Clavel, the Canadian boxing queen with a heart of gold (she did win that 2020 ESPY Award for nursing during the pandemic, remember?) will challenge tough light flyweight champ, Evelin “The Little Princess” Bermudez. Clavel, with her record standing at a respectable 17-1 and 3 KOs, is no joke. She’s got the WBC and WBO International titles snugly under her belt, and she’s hungering for more.

“I’ve had this dream – the big one. The dream of merging my current titles with the IBF and WBO Light Flyweight crowns,” Clavel remarked during a recent press meet. “Imagine, 17 years in boxing. Once upon a time, I couldn’t even afford gas. Now? I’m here to prove that dreams do come true.”

Across the ring, we have Evelin Bermudez. With an 18-1-1 record and 6 KOs, this Argentinian sensation isn’t someone to be taken lightly. Bermudez’s reputation as a top-contender was solidified when she clinched her world title in 2018. And although she had a minor hiccup against Yokasta Valle, she’s back in the saddle with her latest victory this past March.

Bermudez confidently stated, “Clavel’s great, no doubt. But let’s keep it real; I’ve got the experience. And those belts? They’re coming back with me to Argentina.”

As if that wasn’t enough action, the co-featured fight showcases Montreal’s darling, Sebastian Bouchard (20-2-1, 9 KOs) squaring off against the unbeaten Canadian sensation, Mazlum “Maz” Akdeniz (18-0, 8 KOs). It’s the kind of fight that’s got everyone talking, especially since it’s a make-or-break ten-round fight for the vacant WBC International title.

Bouchard quipped, “Some say I’m the underdog. To them, I say – just wait till Sunday morning!”

Akdeniz, never one to be outdone, added, “This fight’s going to be wild. Best believe, whoever’s got the bigger heart is walking away a winner.”

Marie-Pier Houle, the Canadian super lightweight, will be taking on Mexico’s Cindy Reyes Espinoza. Keep an eye out too for Caroline Veyre, our 2020 Canadian Olympian, as she battles Jessica “Bulldozer” Bellusci.

Starting the show is Derek “Slick” Pomerleau, clashing with Czech Republic’s Michal Chludil.

And for those with a keen sense of boxing history, we’ve got a special treat. The legendary Arturo “Thunder” Gatti’s son, Arturo Gatti, Jr., will make noise against Terry Digaletos. Also, don’t miss the fight between Alessi Mansueto and Melina LaPlante.
