In just a few weeks, the boxing world will turn its eyes to The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas for the return of the undefeated knockout artist, Vergil Ortiz, Jr. (19-0, 19 KOs) from Grand Prairie, Texas. He’s all set for a 12-round super welterweight tussle against Fredrick “General Okunka” Lawson (30-3, 22 KOs) of Accra, Ghana. This exciting event, scheduled for January 6, 2024, will be broadcast globally on DAZN.

Golden Boy has cooked up a tantalizing undercard to complement the main event. In the co-main event, Ohara “Two Tanks” Davies (25-2, 18 KOs) of the U.K. will take on El Tigre, Venezuela’s Ismael Barroso (24-4-2, 22 KOs). This 12-round match for the WBA Super Lightweight Interim World Championship was initially planned for Dec. 2 but has now been rescheduled. This fight is also presented in association with TGB Promotions.

Adding to the excitement, newly-signed Golden Boy fighter, Arnold Barbosa Jr. (28-0, 10 KOs) from El Monte, will step into the ring for a 10-round super lightweight bout. Ukraine’s Sergiy Derevyanchenko (14-5, 10 KOs) is also slated for a 10-round fight on the DAZN undercard. The opponents for these matchups will be revealed in the upcoming weeks.

The Golden Boy Boxing Prelims: Ortiz vs. Lawson card, streamed live on YouTube and Facebook Watch, features the undefeated NABF Welterweight titleholder Raul “El Cugar” Curiel (13-0, 11 KOs), who will engage in a 10-round fight against Elias Diaz (12-1, 7 KOs) of National City, California. Also making an appearance is Tristan Kalkreuth (12-1, 9 KOs), who’s back in action following a stunning fifth-round knockout victory in October 2023. He’s set to face off against Marquise Weston (15-2-1, 8 KOs) from Tacoma, Washington in an eight-round cruiserweight fight.

The prelims will also feature Santa Ana’s Johnny “Sugar Cane” Cañas (2-0, 1 KO) in a four-round super lightweight bout and Emiliano Gandara of Dallas, Texas, making his professional debut in a four-round super welterweight fight. The opponents for these fights will be announced shortly.
