Callum Walsh Charges Up The World Rankings

Callum Walsh, boxing’s latest sensation, just zipped up the ranks after schooling Ismael Villarreal, a hotshot prospect from New York City, back on November 9. He’s not just making noise; he’s making a statement. Now, he’s sitting pretty at #15 in the world boxing rankings, courtesy of both the World Boxing Council (WBC) and the International Boxing Federation (IBF). This Cork, Ireland native isn’t just about the flash though; he’s the proud holder of the WBC US Silver Super Welterweight Title, and he’s defended it twice like a boss.

Walsh, only 22 and wise beyond his years, shared, “It’s awesome to get a nod from both the WBC and the IBF, but hey, the real deal is to keep getting better. As the fights get tougher, I’ll just ramp up my game.”

His ten-round unanimous decision victory over Villarreal wasn’t just any fight; it was an electrifying spectacle at The Theater at Madison Square Garden. And guess what? It was beamed across the globe on UFC FIGHT PASS.

Managed by the one and only Tom Loeffler of 360 Promotions, and trained by the legendary Freddie Roach at the iconic Wild Card Boxing Gym in Los Angeles, Walsh is in elite company.

Loeffler can’t stop raving about Walsh. “Just nine fights in, and Callum’s already outshining the newbies in boxing. He was downright brilliant against Villarreal, who, let’s face it, was pretty much undefeated with 14 wins under his belt.”

Loeffler continues, “No other rookie in boxing has pulled off what Callum has. He’s a shoo-in for this year’s Prospect of the Year. From dazzling performances against tough opponents to headlining events on both coasts, and now cracking the top 15 in the WBC and IBF rankings, the sky’s the limit for Callum in 2024. You’ll be seeing a lot more of him, that’s for sure.”
