Betway spoke with Andy Ruiz Jr’s coach Jorge Capetillo. Here is what he had to say: o

Interviewer : How is Andy Ruiz Jr looking?

Jorge Capetillo: “Andy has been in the gym. He is staying in shape, looking very slim and he is taking more care with his nutrition but at the same time he is enjoying life because he is secure but he is still at the gym. He stays in shape, he is ready and hopefully something comes up so he can perform.”

I: Who is Ruiz Jr going to fight next – Wilder, Joshua?

JC: “I think a trilogy with Anthony Joshua is something the people may be interested to see. In the first fight we remember that was when he was crowned the first Mexican heavyweight champion of the world and then they run it back in Saudi Arabia and the rematch AJ boxed him from the long distance. But I think that would be a great fight for both, the public and that’s something that can happen.”

I: AJ-Ruiz 3 in London?

JC: “Yes, for sure 100%. Andy will go fight Joshua anywhere. He already went to Saudi Arabia. I know AJ has a huge fan base in the UK so wherever the fight can be I will be excited to see the fight, be part of it and be in Andy’s team.”

I: Prediction for AJ-Ruiz 3?

JC: “I think with Andy Ruiz will prepare. In the second fight he was overweight, very distracted but we all learn from our mistakes and learn from the bad choices we make and then you can see in his last performance against Luis Ortiz, he looks very good, very sharp and that’s the Andy Ruiz Jr I want to see in the ring. The same Andy that defeated Joshua in the first fight can defeat him again on the third. As I said, once Andy gets focused and disciplined in the gym and stays in shape, he can do big things.”

I: Why did talks collapse between Ruiz & Wilder?

JC: “I think it was about the purse – the amount of money. Both sides want to negotiate the best they can for themselves and I think they didn’t get to an agreement because of the numbers. I think that was a good fight for Andy – I would be so happy if he fights Deontay Wilder for sure. He’s the quicker fighter and faster fighter. He can punch but unfortunately they couldn’t get an agreement, there was back and forth but you know how boxing is.”

I: Is there any chance of Ruiz vs Wilder next?

JC: “Hopefully. I think boxing needs fights like this at the moment. We had the Crawford-Spence fight, Garcia-Tank Davies so we need to see Fury fight Anthony Joshua or Andy Ruiz to mix with Joshua or Deontay Wilder. We need those type of big fights. It’s good for boxing, their careers and legacy, so I think there are big names on the heavyweight division that everybody would be excited to see.”
