The Executive Board of World Boxing has given the green light to the applications, and a formal stamp of approval is set to take place at the first bell ring of the organization’s first-ever Congress in November 2023.

All fighters in the World Boxing corner will receive an invite to step into the ring at the November 2023 Congress. There, they’ll get the chance to throw their hats in the ring for various positions within the new international governing body, including the top spot on the fight card like the Presidency, Executive Committee, and various Committees and Commissions. Full-fledged members will have the power to cast their votes at this grand event.

The cornerman and Secretary General of World Boxing, Simon Toulson, weighed in: “World Boxing’s ring is drawing top-tier National Federations eager to fight by our rules and back our game plan to prioritize our fighters and maintain a strict training regime. Joining our ranks is no quick knockout; it’s a careful and precise match to ensure a National Federation is fit to be part of our team.

“We’re hearing the bell ring with growing interest and appeals from National Federations and boxing entities eager to lace up their gloves with World Boxing. We’re currently juggling several applications from those looking to get in the ring or working their way through the weigh-in process.

“World Boxing’s ground rules are in place, setting the stage for the Inaugural Congress this November. The quality of the National Federations stepping into the ring, along with the bouts and tournaments in partnership with World Boxing, ensures we’re dancing towards our early-round goals while going the distance to keep boxing a titleholder in the Olympic Games.”

World Boxing came out swinging in April 2023 with the vision to keep boxing as a main eventer in the Olympic movement. Its game plan includes seeking a nod from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and working hand-in-glove to forge a road that ensures boxing keeps its title bout in the Olympic competition lineup, eyeing the Los Angeles 2028 Games and beyond.
