Wasserman Boxing has made another striking addition to its roster by signing Tom Welland, a three-time national amateur champion.
As Welland celebrates his 19th birthday today, he is already basking in the buzz from a stellar amateur career studded with both national and international recognitions. While the super bantamweight amateur champ hails from Essex, his unique blend of English and Filipino heritage positions him with a dual fanbase.
Welland’s Filipino roots trace back to his mother. His initial foray into boxing started in England, but seeking broader prospects, he decided to join the Olympic squad of the Philippines earlier this year. This move catapulted him into the limelight in the Southeast Asian nation.
However, with an undying passion to forge ahead and make a mark, Welland decided to venture out of the Olympic sphere. Opting for a professional career, he is now set to make his much-anticipated pro debut under the esteemed Wasserman Boxing banner later this year. He currently trains under the guidance of Coach Will Jones at the Edge Gym located in East London.
