Sampson Boxing Signs Lucas Pontes da Silva to a Promotional Contract

Sampson Boxing just roped in Lucas Pontes da Silva, a smashing Brazilian cruiserweight who hasn’t tasted defeat yet, and they’re chuffed to bits to show him off on ProBoxTV. This lad from Belem, Para, Brazil, boasts a record of 7-0, all knockouts, and has a bit of a legacy in his corner. His old man, Ulisses Pereira, who’s also his coach, has been in the ring corners for more than 20 years, rubbing shoulders with Brazil’s boxing royalty, including Acelino Freitas.

Lucas, who’s been throwing punches since he could walk, under the watchful eyes of his dad and Freitas, turned pro in 2017 after a decent amateur run of 53-3. He didn’t muck about, snagging the Brazilian national title in his third pro fight by laying out Fernando Rodrigo Simoes de Almeida. He’s also got the WBC Feconsur Cruiserweight belt and the Universal Boxing Organization World Cruiserweight Championship to his name, thanks to his knack for finishing fights early.

When it came time to step up his game, Lucas’s manager, Junior Santos, knew they needed a heavy hitter in the promotional world. Enter Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing, a bloke with a reputation for handling champions.

His dad, Ulysses, is over the moon about his son’s leap to the big leagues and is banking on Sampson’s clout to help Lucas clinch a world title.

Lucas’s first big throwdown under the Sampson Boxing banner is set for February 16 on ProBoxTV, where he’ll trade blows with Efetobor “The Nigerian Pitbull” Apochi, a fellow bruiser known for his knockout power. Despite Apochi’s reputation and a couple of recent losses, Team Pontes da Silva isn’t losing any sleep over it. They’re confident they’ve got the strategy to take him down.

Lucas reckons Apochi will come out swinging, desperate for a win, but he sees weaknesses he can exploit. He’s promising a spectacle.
