Super lightweight former contender, Ryan “Blue Chip” Martin (25-2, 15 KOs) is gearing up for a thrilling comeback after taking a year’s breather. He’s set to exchange blows with the renowned Philippine boxer, Rogelio “Hercules” Jun Doliguez (25-5-2, 19 KOs) in an 8-round super lightweight fight. Mark the date – October 28, 2023, at the Lum Color Center in Ontario, California. This spectacle is presented by Elite Boxing USA under the tag “Evolution XII.”
From the heart of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Martin has been on the receiving end of defeat only a couple of times. Those setbacks came courtesy of ex-undisputed super lightweight champ Josh Taylor (19-1, 13 KOs) and the previous lightweight world champ Robert Easter Jr. (23-1-1, 14 KOs).
Feeling the itch to get back in the groove, Martin expressed, “After spending a year away, the energy’s building up. With a fresh team backing me, the goal is clear: chasing that world title.” Martin’s got his eyes on the prize and aims to make his presence felt in the super lightweight division. What’s more, he’s teamed up with Ivan Sylve, the man behind the training of undefeated upcoming talent Ashton Sylve, associated with the Jack Rabbit boxing gym in Long Beach, California.
Sharpening his boxing acumen with Ivan Sylve’s guidance, Martin shared, “The past year was all about honing my skills. With every punch, jab, and movement refined, I’m confident of giving Doliguez a run for his money come October 28th.”
Considering hanging up his gloves, fate had other plans for Martin. Manager Brandon Stump from CTB Athletics recognized Martin’s latent talent and pitched in to rejuvenate his boxing career. A partnership was born, leading to Martin’s resurgence.
