Now fighting in the featherweight division, Rios is under the guidance of a fresh coaching team, including his old ally, Jesus Gutierrez, and Frank Barajas. Having known Gutierrez for over two decades, Rios approaches each fight with the intensity and dedication of a man who knows it could be his last.
After almost two years away from competitive fighting, the itch to box proved too strong to resist for Rios. The desire reignited after he shed twenty pounds that had crept on during his hiatus, a period during which he also reflected on his past pursuits and future ambitions.
