No Limit Boxing unveil historic six week schedule

07/11/2023 - No comments

No Limit Boxing have unveiled its largest ever schedule of shows to kick off the second half of 2023. Australia’s leading promoter will showcase four stacked fight nights across just six weeks, including the first ever all female fight card on Fox Sports and a bumper Nikita Tszyu and Liam Wilson double header.

The made of television No Limit on Fox events will all take place at Hoops Capital East at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park, Sydney, and will be shown live and exclusive on Fox Sports and Kayo Sports. Additional fights and undercard details will be announced shortly.

Wednesday, July 19: Paulo Aokuso vs. Renold Quinlan

Headlining his first No Limit Boxing event is highly entertaining prospect and Tokyo 2020 Olympian Paulo Aokuso (4-0, 3 KOs) vs. former IBO super middleweight champion Renold Quinlan (16-12, 11 KOs) in a non-title headliner over eight rounds. Aokuso’s quest for a maiden world title within seven fights is now within touching distance. He faces the always dangerous and experienced Quinlan, whose devastating power produced the Upset of Year in 2022 when he floored rising prospect Jack Bowen in Brisbane on the Gallen-Hodges undercard. The second No Limit on Fox show for 2023 will also see the return of exciting fan favourite Jack Brubaker (16-4-2) against Troy O’Meley (14-3-1) Youssef Dib (19-0, 9 KOs) vs. Miles Zalewski (12-2, 10 KOs) for the vacant IBF International lightweight title and Isaias Sette (1-1-1) vs Ankush Hooda (4-2-2).

Paulo Aokuso said: “I’m very excited. It will be my first time headlining a fight,” Olympian and rising star Aokuso said ahead of his fight in just eight days’ time. He (Quinlan) is a dangerous fighter so I’m going to have to stay on the whole time, we’ve been working on that, so we’ll have him figured out.”

Wednesday, July 26: Tayla Harris vs. Millicent Agboegbulen

No Limit Boxing’s historic first all-female fight card at Hoops Capital East in Sydney is headlined by cross-code superstar Tayla Harris (8-0-1, 4 KOs) vs. Millicent Agboegbulen (2-1) for the Australian super welterweight title. Harris returns to the ring for the second time this year having dominated Connie Chan in Melbourne following a more than three-year lay off.  Rising star Ella Boot (4-0), trained by the legendary Johnny Lewis, will defend her Australian light welterweight strap on home soil against mixed martial arts convert Annie Thatcher (debut). Also on the card, Australian super featherweight champion Angel Rushton (3-1) takes on Jaala Tomat (2-2-1) and Tywarna Campbell (3-2-1) vs. Natasha Kurene (1-0) in two cracking super featherweight fights.

Tayla Harris said: “I can’t wait to get back in there, I’m always on all year. Obviously I’ve got football as well so I’m always fit and every time I get the chance to step in the ring I make the most of it and this fight will be no different.I think the opportunity this event holds for me is much bigger than just winning the fight. I think there’s a lot to be said about an all-female boxing event and for No Limit to have the courage to put it on is something I’m really proud and thankful for.”

Wednesday, August 9: Issac Hardman vs. Kazuki Kyohara

The hard-hitting, fast talking Isaac Hardman (13-2, 11 KOs) is back in action at his preferred weight class, and is ready to return to the winners circle after being on the wrong end of a close decision loss against Rohan Murdock on the Tszyu-Harrison undercard in Sydney in March. Hardman, a former world rated middleweight and last year’s Knockout of the Year winner, takes on Kazuki Kyohara (6-1-3) from Japan. Details on the remainder of the card will be released shortly.

Isaac Hardman said: “In my last fight I got on my bike and tried to be the boxer but everyone knows me as the Headsplitter and getting in people’s faces and that’s what I’m going to do now. I’ve learned that lesson. It’s unfortunate I had to learn it on the run and take an ‘L’ in the journey but I’m getting in people’s faces now like I always have been .. and I’m staying in their face.”

Wednesday, August 23: Nikita Tszyu & Liam Wilson Double Header

Knockout artists Nikita Tszyu (6-0, 5 KOs) and Liam Wilson (11-2, 7 KOs) will return to action on August 23rd, with further details on the pay-per-view event, including two international bouts to be announced shortly. Tszyu’s unprecedented run is set to continue, having stopped five unbeaten fighters in six professional fights to date. The bout will be just the second time Tszyu has competed at the iconic Hordern Pavilion, with his last being a Fight of the Year contender against number one welterweight Ben Horn last July. The Sydney-based slugger is fresh off a career-best display in Melbourne, where he produced a viral first-round knockout of previously undefeated rival Benjamin Bommber in May.

Super featherweight highlight-reel Wilson returns to action for the first time since his world title defeat to champion Emanuel Navarrete in Glendale, Arizona in February. Injury forced his withdrawal from his scheduled bout against Eduardo Ramirez on the undercard of Tim Tszyu’s interim world title fight against Carlos Ocampo last month.

Wilson enjoyed a stand-out campaign in 2022 as the only super featherweight to earn consecutive wins over top 10 world rated opponents. This included avenging an earlier loss to world number five Joe Noynay by second-round knockout, and a thrilling 10-round decision over former world title challenger Matias Rueda.

Liam Wilson said: “It was a very unfortunate outcome, I was so close to being world champion and fulfilling my dreams … the circumstances were unfortunate … but it’s sparked a motivation in me to be world champion. I was so close …. and I can’t wait to get back in there.”

Nikita Tszyu said: “We’re looking to increase the tempo and the intensity. For me I’m still trying to gain more experience, that’s the main thing for me, I couldn’t care less about the knockouts, I’m trying to level up and build me skills and you don’t get that with a one round fight you get that with a tough fight and one that goes the distance. This time around we’re looking for someone who is definitely more experienced and able to go the distance. That’s the kind of fight I need.”

George Rose, No Limit CEO, said: “We started 2023 with a bang and now we are taking it to the next level with a run of high quality, all action shows fight fans have come to expect from us. These are career changing nights for fighters – rising stars looking to make their mark, world-ranked opponents going to war and Australian and international title fights where absolutely everything goes on the line.”

“I’m really happy with the schedule we’ve put together over the next six weeks which includes the returns of some fan favourites, our first all-female fight card and a massive Nikita Tszyu and Liam Wilson double header next month. Over the next month and a half fight fans will get to see the likes of Nikita Tszyu, Liam Wilson, Paulo Aokuso, Tayla Harris, Issac Hardman, Ella Boot, Youssef Dib, Jack Brubaker, and more. That’s a pretty epic line-up if you ask me.”
