Nicklaus Flaz, the welterweight storm from Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, has inked a deal with Sampson Boxing, setting the stage for his climb in the 147-lb ranks. After a rocky patch, Flaz (12-2, 8 KOs) has turned the tide with a trio of stunning victories, including a recent standout performance that left the boxing circles abuzz.

Rewinding to October 2020, Flaz faced a setback with a first-round knockout loss. Yet, this stumble didn’t slow him down. Instead, Flaz charged back, rattling the welterweight division with wins over seasoned fighters and snatching the unbeaten records of two rising stars.

At 28, Flaz’s resurgence began with a hard-fought majority decision against the then-undefeated Brian Ceballo in October 2022. He continued his streak by edging out another unbeaten fighter, Jahi Tucker, in July 2023. However, it was his electrifying performance on March 13, 2023, that truly turned heads. Flaz became the first to stop the rugged Luke Santamaria, a fighter known for toppling high-caliber opponents, including a former world champion.

Flaz’s victory over Santamaria wasn’t just another win; it was a statement. Dropping Santamaria three times, Flaz sealed the deal with a sixth-round stoppage, showcasing his refined power and agility.

Starting his boxing journey at 16 and boasting an impressive amateur record, Flaz has always shown promise. Now, under the banner of Sampson Boxing and with the guidance of his dedicated team, he’s more focused than ever. “Boxing isn’t just a job for me; it’s my passion,” Flaz declares, eyeing the welterweight throne with determination.

His promoter, Lewkowicz, believes in Flaz’s potential, attributing his recent success to a renewed sense of humility and hard work. “Losing was a wake-up call for him,” Lewkowicz notes. “Now, he’s more prepared than ever to chase his dream of becoming a world champion.”
