McKenzie Morrison, son of the iconic boxer Tommy Morrison, has just partnered up with DiBella Entertainment and Holden Productions. This co-promotional agreement seems like the next big chapter in the Morrison boxing legacy.

33-year-old McKenzie turned heads when he beat Hasim Rahman Jr. in Las Vegas in April 2022. The fight, coined as the “Sons of Legends,” led him to clinch the WBC USA heavyweight title.

Interestingly, McKenzie had basketball scholarships waiting for him after high school. But, he chose boxing, starting professionally in 2014. He boasted an unbeaten record until a recent setback in 2022 against Robert Sims.

His father, Tommy’s influence, was always paramount. Tommy’s teachings, especially “Speed generates power,” resonated with McKenzie. Tommy’s passing in 2013 was a hard hit for McKenzie, but it didn’t steer him away from his boxing aspirations.

Regarding his new co-promotional deal, McKenzie stated, “After some deep soul-searching and time spent in prayer, I’ve made a career-changing decision that fills me with enthusiasm. Both Tony Holden and Lou DiBella have been vital influences in my boxing journey. The fact that they’ve decided to co-promote my career is a crucial milestone for me. I feel extremely blessed to keep pursuing my dreams with these two remarkable men backing me.”

Lou DiBella, the President of DiBella Entertainment, expressed his excitement about the partnership, saying, “I am optimistic about the opportunities ahead for Kenzie. I had the privilege of knowing his father, a memorable heavyweight with a big heart. It’s my honor to support Kenzie in achieving his goals while paying tribute to his father.”

Tony Holden, the President of Holden Productions, added, “McKenzie is incredibly skilled and has a bright future ahead. I had the pleasure of promoting his dad, Tommy, who was also a close friend. Collaborating with my good friend Lou DiBella to work with McKenzie is indeed special for me.”

McKenzie, now training with Kevin Lightburn in Springdale, AR, is living comfortably in Fayetteville with his partner, Kristen, and their little boy, Sebastian. Fans should keep an eye out – he’s expected to step into the ring soon under the DiBella banner.
