Richie Rivera landed in Malambo, Colombia to fight against Yuri Mendez in a 10-round light heavyweight clash. Rivera, displaying the form that has made him a fan favorite, wasted no time in launching his offensive against Mendez. Barely a minute into the first round, Rivera delivered a powerful body shot that sent Mendez sprawling on the canvas, forcing referee Leonel Mercado to bring a halt to the action. Rivera, who currently ranks high in multiple world rankings ( #6 in WBA, #6 in WBO – at cruiserweight, #8 in WBC, and #11 in IBF), celebrated yet another victory. With this exciting first-round knockout, Rivera has set his eyes on a significant fight that could potentially catapult him into a world championship opportunity.
Back in the United States, in Washington, Pennsylvania, another “Summer Slugfest” was heating up. Lyubomyr Pinchuk faced Anthony Holloway for a vigorous 8-round cruiserweight battle. Both warriors showed their stamina and grit, with Pinchuk seemingly landing more solid punches. Despite Holloway’s relentless efforts, it was Pinchuk’s control of the ring that drove the fight. However, in a surprising twist, the bout was declared a draw – 79-72 for Pinchuk, 75-77 for Holloway, and a deadlock at 76-76.
