LeAnna Cruz, Asa Stevens and Javier Zamarron Remain Undefeated in Atlanta

Boxing was alive with fierce competition over the weekend, as four fighters from Split-T Management remained unbeaten.

In Atlanta, on Friday night, flyweight LeAnna Cruz from Allentown, PA, engaged in a grueling six-round contest against Maryguenn Vellinga. Cruz’s triumph came through a unanimous decision, with judges scoring the bout 60-54 in her favor. The statistics further illustrated her dominance, landing 88 out of 271 punches compared to Vellinga’s 34 of 224. With this win, Cruz’s record advanced to 6-0, while Vellinga, weighing in at 111.2 lbs, moved to 4-4-2.

The action continued with Asa Stevens, who secured his unbeaten status in a super bantamweight battle against D’Angelo Hopgood. The Waianae, HI native triumphed by a split decision, earning scores of 40-36 and 39-37, with one card going to Hopgood at 39-37. Despite a closely fought contest, with Stevens landing 66 of 205 punches compared to Hopgood’s 67 of 273, Stevens succeeded in moving his record to 5-0. Hopgood, at 121.2 lbs, now stands at 2-2-1.

Javier Zamarron’s battle against Sabastian Santiago in a featherweight duel was a showcase of precise technique and perseverance. The Milwaukee fighter’s performance was highlighted by a flawless counter left that floored Santiago in the first round. Even a cut around the right eye in round four didn’t deter Zamarron. With a punch count of 87 out of 265, compared to Santiago’s 52 of 307, Zamarron won a unanimous decision with a score of 40-35 across all cards. This victory elevates his record to 5-0, leaving Santiago, from Cidra, PR, still seeking his first win at 0-2.

In the beautiful Dominican Republic, Split-T’s newest recruit, Shamara Woods, asserted her boxing prowess in a four-round unanimous decision over Rocio De Leon Query. Hailing from Allentown, PA, Woods advanced her record to 3-0. Fans can look forward to her next appearance on September 20th at a Probox TV event in Plant City, Florida.
