Romford heavyweight Johnny Fisher has been honored as the 2023 Best Young Boxer of the Year by the esteemed Boxing Writers’ Club.

This fast rising talent surpassed a competitive list of budding British fighters, becoming part of a prestigious lineage dating back to the inaugural winner, Randolph Turpin, in 1951. Notably, 27 of these promising boxers eventually clinched World Titles.

Such an esteemed list features greats like Terry Downes, Howard Winstone, Ken Buchanan, John H Stracey, John Conteh, Barry McGuigan, Frank Bruno, Nigel Benn, Joe Calzaghe, Amir Khan, and Kell Brook.

Fisher, only 24, is fast carving a niche as a standout young talent in the national boxing scene, boasting an impressive record of 10 fights with nine knockouts since starting his professional journey against Matt Gordan in February 2021.

In his recent fight at The O2 in London during the Anthony Joshua vs. Robert Helenius bout, ‘The Romford Bull’ secured his first professional title by defeating Harry Armstrong in seven rounds, clinching the available Southern Area Heavyweight Title.
