John “Scrappy” Ramirez is set to finally face Ronal Batista in a crucial WBA title eliminator bout on October 7th in Las Vegas. This showdown comes after a 10-month anticipation since Ramirez accepted the offer.

The winner will earn the right to challenge the reigning WBA Super Flyweight World Champion, Kazuto Ioka from Japan. Ioka secured his championship after besting Joshua Franco this past June.

This bout will be the co-featured event on a card promoted by Golden Boy. The main event of the night will see former world super middleweight champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez go toe-to-toe with ex-world light heavyweight titleholder, Joe “The Common Man” Smith, Jr.

Fans can catch all the thrilling action live on DAZN from The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan.

While Ramirez was initially scheduled to compete against Thailand’s Sirichai Thaiyen, the latter has since dropped in the WBA rankings, making way for Batista. In Batista’s last match, he faced a technical knockout in the 11th round against WBC Flyweight Champion Julio Cesar Martinez.

Fighting out of South-Central Los Angeles, Ramirez, eager for this title shot, stated, “This is my first time fighting in Las Vegas. I’ve always been inspired by the city’s boxing atmosphere.” He’s not planning to let the match stretch to 12 rounds and is aiming for a knockout.

Ramirez’s journey in the boxing world has the support of 3 Point Management (3 PM). This emerging management company from Los Angeles boasts a roster that includes names like “Zurdo” Ramirez, Kareem Hackett, Darius “DFG” Fulghum, Cem “Champ” Kilic, and Zach Spiller.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Ramirez said, “It’s an honor to share the ring again with ‘Zurdo’, and I aim to give my best performance on October 7th. I’m not anticipating this fight to last 12 rounds. My goal is to deliver a knockout. I am geared up to give this match everything I have.”
