Gary Cully Ready to Bounce Back in November 25 Dublin Showdown

11/21/2023 - No comments

Gary Cully, the guy from Naas with a pro record that’s pretty neat (16-1, 10 KOs), is gearing up for a showdown with Reece Mould. This tussle is part of the undercard for the Chantelle Cameron vs. Katie Taylor title rematch in Dublin on November 25. Catch the action live worldwide on DAZN.

Last time Cully was in the ring, things didn’t go as planned. He faced Jose Felix and, let’s just say, it was a bit of a shocker. Felix played the spoiler, handing Cully his first pro defeat with a third-round knockout. That one stung, especially in front of the home crowd.

Cully’s fight with Felix was supposed to be a walk in the park, his Dublin debut and all. But Felix threw a wrench in those plans, leading Cully to overhaul his training completely.

Cully gets real about it: “I wasn’t exactly laser-focused last time. I was more about the after-party. Big mistake. I got caught up in the whole ‘Gary’s the man’ hype. I thought I’d breeze through Felix. Learned my lesson there. No after-party plans this time. Just focused on the fight.”

That loss hit Cully hard, but he’s learned a lot from it. Now, he’s training with Joe McNally at Rotunda ABC in Liverpool, alongside Caoimhin Agyarko. The goal? Bouncing back big time against Mould (18-1-0, 6 KOs) for the WBA Continental Europe Title.

Cully’s feeling confident: “I’m going home to Dublin after a loss, not where I like to be. But pressure? Nah, it’s all about proving myself. It’s Gary vs. Gary. Time to show everyone what I’ve got.”

Cully knows Mould’s no pushover. “Reece is tough, experienced. But I’m ready to make a statement. I’m here to show I’m as good as I say I am.”

This Dublin fight night’s packed with action. We’ve got undisputed Super-Lightweight World Champion Chantelle Cameron defending her titles against Katie Taylor, Paddy Donovan facing Danny Ball for the WBA Continental Title, and a bunch of other exciting fights. Thomas Carty, Skye Nicolson, Zelfa Barrett, John Cooney, Liam Gaynor, Emmet Brennan, and debutant Giorgio Visioli are all stepping into the ring.
