Ready to step into the ring for the first time in the City of Angels, Darius “DFG” Fulghum (6-0, 6 KOs), a boxer yet to sign with any promotion, is preparing for his most demanding fight yet. He’ll face seasoned Mexican boxer Ricardo Adrian “Tyson” Luna (25-10-2, 16 KOs) on September 16th, hosted at Commerce Casino and Hotel in Los Angeles. This bout will also be Fulghum’s initial eight-round showdown.

“I’m thrilled to appear on a great card with DAZN,” expressed Fulghum. “I’ve made some solid connections in LA, especially at Brickhouse Boxing Club in North Hollywood. Plus, my folks from Texas are gonna be in the crowd.”

Discussing his training regimen, Fulghum said, “The prep doesn’t really shift. Whether I’ve been up for a four or six-round bout, I’ve always trained as if it’s a full 12-rounder. The intensity is just dialed up a notch for this one.”

“Tyson” Luna has earned a reputation as a “gatekeeper,” having squared off against up-and-coming talents like Albert Ramirez (16-0), Diego Pacheco (19-0), Eric Bazinyan (30-0), and Ryota Murata (16-3). One of his most headline-grabbing matches ended in a draw against Vyacheslav Shabranskyy, who holds a 21-2 record.

“I’m not gunning for a knockout,” admitted Fulghum. “Every boxer knows, if the knockout is there, it will happen. My strategy is to grind down my opponent. Would I love a knockout? Absolutely, but it’s not the game plan.”

Fulghum’s upcoming fight marks his fourth appearance in the ring within a five-month window. This hectic schedule suits him well as he makes the shift from light heavyweight to super middleweight, agreeing to face Luna at a 172-pound catchweight.

“I’m eager to keep this pace, it only adds to my experience,” Fulghum pointed out. “I’ve been fortunate not to take any serious hits, and I’m consistently in the gym.”

Beyond the ring, Fulghum has a nursing license in Texas and a degree from Prairie View A & M University. As an amateur, he secured the top heavyweight ranking in the United States. His list of accolades includes victory at the 2018 National Golden Gloves Tournament and the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, all while completing his college education.

Currently, Fulghum is aligned with 3 Point Management (3 PM), an LA-based outfit that is nurturing a crop of promising fighters. Their roster boasts talents such as former world super middleweight champ Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (44-1, 30 KOs), NABA super flyweight titleholder John “Scrappy” Ramirez (12-0, 8 KOs), light heavyweight Kareem Hackett (12-0, 6 KOs), super middleweight Cem “Champ” Kilic (17-1, 11 KOs), and heavyweight Zach Spiller (3-0, 2 KOs).
