City of Omaha to Hold Victory Parade and Celebration Honoring Terence Crawford

Omaha is thrilled to host a Victory Parade and Celebration for Terence “Bud” Crawford, the world’s undisputed welterweight champ, on Saturday, August 12. This grand event, slated for 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., will traverse Downtown Omaha and culminate at the Riverfront’s Gene Leahy Mall. This is a tribute to the astounding feats of one of the greatest boxing figures and Omaha’s beloved son.

Born in North Omaha, Terence “Bud” Crawford has solidified his status as an indomitable boxing force and a committed community advocate. His unmatched prowess, resolve, and spirit have catapulted him to the pinnacle of the boxing world, winning over fans globally. As he has now been crowned undisputed in two weight divisions in the four belt era – a first, Omaha is privileged to mark his monumental career.

Mayor Jean Stothert praised Terence for his extraordinary feats as a world champ and mentor at the B&B Sports Academy. She said, “Terence’s genuine engagement with Omaha’s youth reveals his true strength in priming future generations for success. The City takes immense pride in this event, honouring him, and offering everyone the chance to participate.”

The day’s proceedings commence with a victory parade on Farnam Street at 10 a.m., starting at 19th & Farnam, and drawing to a close at the Gene Leahy Mall for a celebration. Fans can line up along the parade path to cheer on Team Crawford. The parade’s conclusion at the Gene Leahy Mall will usher in a celebration abuzz with festivity, entertainment, and moving homage to Crawford’s extraordinary trajectory. There will be special guests, city officials, and community leaders, all united to celebrate the champ, his team, and his meaningful work with the community’s youth.

Park Omaha will avail free parking in three city garages: Park 1 at 15th & Douglas, Park 5 at 19th & Capitol, and Park 8 at 12th and Capitol. All parking meters downtown will be free on August 12 till 1:00 p.m., with the public parking garage at 19th and Harney also offering free parking Saturday morning.
