Froch castigated Tyson Fury’s decision to walk away from a unification bout with Oleksandr Usyk in favour of a match with MMA star Francis Ngannou;
Speaking to BettingSites.co.uk, Froch said: “Frank Warren’s just announced Tyson Fury will fight Francis Ngannou, who is an MMA fighter, so it’s another crossover fight – load of rubbish. He’s on about, ‘the game’s changed, it’s going to change the whole sport’. Absolute load of s**t. I don’t like swearing, but it’s a load of s**t. We don’t want to see that fight. We want to see Tyson Fury in there with Usyk.”
Sportsbooks Give Tyson Fury 80% Chance To Beat Francis Ngannou After Boxing Fight Announcement
After months of waiting for his next move, it has been announced today that Tyson Fury’s next boxing fight will be against the former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Francis Ngannou, on October 28th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The fight will reportedly take place over 10 rounds, with a typical boxing scoring method being used by three judges, however, the fight will not be professionally sanctioned and will not affect Fury’s belts or boxing record.
Since the news broke, sportsbooks have begun setting their odds for the exhibition fight, and unsuprinsingly, Tyson Fury is the overwhelming favourite to get the victory over the Cameroonian Ngannou, who will be making his boxing debut against one of the all-time greats of the sport.
WBC Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury has opened as a -400 favourite against Ngannou, meaning that sportsbooks are giving Fury an implied 80% chance of victory in October. Ngannou, on the other hand, has been priced up at +300.
As you can see in the odds, sportsbooks aren’t giving the MMA superstar much of a chance in the ring. If the fight was taking place in the octagon, I’m sure we would see lopsided odds in the reverse fashion, however, in the boxing ring it seems Fury has the upper hand.
