A tussle among the top dogs in the Jr Flyweight division lights up All Star Boxing’s opening act of 2024 on March 8th, hailing from PHARAOHS CASINO, Managua, Nicaragua. The Panamanian, ranked by WBO, WBA, and WBC, Azael Villar (20-2-4, 15 KO’s), throws down with the unbeaten Jairo Noriega (13-0, 3 KO’s) from Villareal, Spain in a 12-round headline scrap. Expect this brawl to hit your screens via ESPN+ and ESPN Knockout, kicking off at 9:00PM/EDT.
Tuto Zabala Jr, the big boss of All Star Boxing, Inc, reckons they’re setting the year off with a right old rumble. “In our main scrap, it’s all to play for on neutral turf,” Tuto belts out. “Whoever comes out on top gets a golden ticket to challenge for the big belts,” he wraps up.
Villar, no stranger to the ESPN spotlight, recently bested ex-WBA title hopeful Ricardo Astuvilca and is now topping the bill for this gig.
“This scrap’s the big one for me, with everything that’s at stake,” Villar pipes up. “Heading out of Panama’s no biggie for us; we’ve done it and won before.”
Then there’s Noriega, hoarding titles back in Spain like they’re going out of fashion. Nabbing the EBU European Flyweight and WBC Silver Light Flyweight titles, he’s now off to foreign lands for his next conquest.
“I’m all in for this kind of dust-up,” Noriega chirps. “Linking up with All Star Boxing’s the smart move for me. Come March 8th, everyone’s gonna know the name Jairo Noriega.”
The undercard’s just as tasty, with local darling Eveling “La Colocha” Ortega (6-5, 2 KO’s) defending her WBO Latino Female Flyweight strap against Yanissa “Reckless” Castellon (4-1) in an 8-rounder that’s a rematch packed with promise.
“Chuffed to bits to be fighting in front of my own lot, especially on International Women’s Day,” Ortega gushes.
