Fresh from her 2020 Olympic bronze win, Karriss Artingstall (4-0) is gearing up to challenge the experienced Vanessa Bradford, who has previously faced world champions Mikaela Mayer and Alycia Baumgardner. Their fight is set to be a thrilling one at BOXXER: CLASH AT THE O2 on Saturday, October 21st, available for all to see live on Sky Sports.
‘Vicious’ Vanessa Bradford (7-4-2), the current Canadian featherweight champ, lasted the full distance against Mayer in a 2018 North American title fight and pulled the same stunt with Baumgardner in 2021 – just a short while before Baumgardner knocked out Terri Harper, claiming the IBO and WBC world super-featherweight titles.
Vanessa’s been around the block, having fought some of the best out there,” Artingstall shared. “She’s seasoned in the boxing world, so I’m prepping for an intense fight and a true challenge. But hey, I’ve got the drive and the confidence to clinch the win and propel my career even further. Plus, I can’t wait for October 21st – the atmosphere at such a significant venue and the Buatsi vs. Azeez fight? Priceless.”
BOXXER CEO, Ben Shalom, added, “After her Olympic success, getting Karriss Artingstall on board with us was like hitting the jackpot. She’s undeniably one of the best in her division, a statement she proved time and again during her amateur days. Now, watching her pro journey flourish, especially against someone like Vanessa? That’s a treat for all boxing fans.”
Originating from Macclesfield and having a past role as a gunner in the Royal Horse Artillery, Artingstall showcased her talents in the fierce women’s featherweight division at the Olympics, bagging bronze after besting Skye Nicolson.
With a clean slate of four wins in her pro journey, Artingstall, under the guidance of Rob McCracken, is gunning for victory number five later in October.
The spotlight event? Former pals Joshua Buatsi and Dan Azeez turning competitors at BOXXER: CLASH AT THE O2, happening on October 21st at The O2 London. Don’t miss out – it’s broadcasting live and exclusively for the UK and Ireland on Sky Sports.
