Angel Luna Returns to the Ring February 10, 2024

IAngel Luna is lacing up his gloves once again for a showdown on February 10. This guy’s fought with some of the big names like Christopher Diaz and Tevin Farmer and is now eyeballing his 18th victory, aiming to stack another win on his record after decking his last opponent back in December 2023.

Remember when Luna got outmaneuvered by Carlos Castro, ranked 19th globally, last October in Phoenix? Well, post-fight, Castro played the sage, tossing Luna some golden advice about turning a deaf ear to the naysayers and not letting a single defeat get him down. Luna’s no stranger to shockers, though. Cast your minds back to 2015 at the Barclays, where he left Jose Lopez staring at the lights, unbeaten record be damned.

Then there was that tangle with Adan Ochoa for the WBC featherweight crown. Luna swears it wasn’t Ochoa’s punch but a clumsy two-step with his own feet that had him kissing the canvas, leaving him more baffled than battered.

Now, with retirement whispers in the air, Luna’s eyeing one last shot at glory. Despite the recent tumble in his career post-Ochoa and folks doubting his prowess, Luna’s not just throwing in the towel. His tale’s been one heck of a rollercoaster, moving his life and kin to Connecticut for the sake of his fists, with his wife even quitting her job to be his cornerwoman.

After a win in December, the buzz around him is starting to pick up again. He’s dead set on proving the doubters wrong, aiming for a solid 20 wins before he hangs up the gloves, and maybe, just maybe, strapping another belt around his waist.

And let’s not forget the WBL Latino World Championship belt he snagged back in February 2022 – proof that Luna’s still got some fight left in him.

So, what’s next for Luna? A title fight in Highland, Indiana, come June 1, 2024, unless something juicier comes along. But for now, catch him live in action this Saturday in Columbia on Facebook via RING KINGS LLC, starting at 3 p.m.
