Leli Buttigieg has inked a promotional contract with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and is slated to launch his much-anticipated professional career later this year.

Hailing from Bow in East London, the 18-year-old sharpens his skills at the famous iBox Gym in Bromley. He benefits from the expertise of head trainer Alan Smith and Eddie Lam and shares the gym with fellow Matchroom talent, Skye Nicolson.

Lee Eaton oversees Buttigieg’s career, who previously shined at Newham Boxing Club. The young boxer has an impressive amateur record, boasting four National Titles, a GB Gold Medal, and twice showcasing his skills at the European Games representing England.

Expressing his excitement, Buttigieg remarked, “Teaming up with Eddie and the entire Matchroom squad marks the beginning of an exciting chapter in my boxing journey. I’m surrounded by an exceptional team, including my trainer Al Smith and manager Lee Eaton. I’m geared up for my debut scheduled for early December.”

“At the iBox Gym, I’ve had the opportunity to spar with elite fighters, such as Danny Dignum, a World Title contender. I’m confident in my knockout ability. My amateur fights could’ve witnessed more knockouts, but I intentionally held back to ensure I wasn’t hard to match. That restraint ends now. My versatility inside the ring is my strength. I’m adept at both aggressive and defensive boxing, ensuring I have a response for any opponent’s style.”

“I’ve always admired Miguel Cotto’s technique. I eagerly await the moment when I ditch the amateur vest and introduce the professional boxing world to my full potential. I devoted myself entirely to boxing, even sidelining my education. I’m convinced that this dedication will catapult me to the zenith of the sport.”

Recounting his early days, Buttigieg shared, “I embarked on my boxing journey at seven and clinched my first championship title at eleven. I hold four National Titles, a GB Gold Medal, and have represented England at the European Games twice. I urge everyone to remember the name Emmanuel Buttergieg from Bow, East London, as I am on a mission.”
