By Douglas Cavanaugh – Oleh Dovhun, who is 14-0 and the #9 ranked WBA Super Bantamweight contender, makes the second defense of his WBA NABA title on St Patrick’s Day, March 17 at Pittsburgh’s Grand Hall at the Priority.
The popular Ukrainian fighter and Pittsburgh-based Dovhun, will headline a six-bout card promoted by Integrity Fighter Management and Joe DeGuardia’s STAR BOXING.
Dovhun’s opponent will be Nicaraguan Juan Centeno, now fighting out of New Orleans, Louisiana. Centeno’s own career has shown an upward trajectory, and in his last seven outings he is 4-1-2. Among those victories include wins over 8-0 Abel Aparicio, 7-0 Luis Rivera, and 4-0 Fernando Bahena.
Dovhun’s last fight was a March 18, 2022, split decision victory over Geram Eloyan at the Paramount Theatre in New York. Despite a dominant performance in which Dovhun almost had Eloyan out in the first round, judge John Basile had the lone score of 94-96 for his opponent.
Dovhun moved to America in 2017 after a successful amateur career with over 347 fights including some with the Ukraine Ottoman team of the World Series of Boxing. The Ukrainian Pitbull trains at the Conn-Greb Boxing Club in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania under trainer Michael McSorley. Dovhun initially won the WBA NABA crown on November 18th, 2021, over Baltimore’s 14-2 Glenn Dezurn.
“I am looking forward to fighting again in Pittsburgh. I am grateful for the support. My focus is a victory over Juan Centeno on March 17th. After that, I want big names and a shot at Murodjon Akhmadaliev!”
Oleh is definitely a star. Keep your eye on him. Future world champ! EJL
