Former heavyweight world champion Vitali Klitschko has commented on the negotiations for the unified heavyweight title fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.

Klitschko to Zuma Press: “It is very likely that the fight will take place. If Fury refuses to face Usyk, he will be the biggest coward in the boxing world. He knows Usyk is a very uncomfortable opponent for him, and now Fury will try to find an opportunity to find a way out of this difficult situation”, Klitschko said, adding: “But the whole world wants to see this fight. I am sure this fight will take place.”

The former world champion further elaborated: “I cannot make any prediction for the fight. This is the heavyweight division where one single punch can decide the outcome of a fight. We keep our fingers crossed that Oleksandr Usyk wins. I am confident that Usyk has all the chances to win, and become the undisputed champion, win all the titles and take over the last WBC belt from Tyson Fury.”

Vitali Klitschko is a Ukrainian professional boxer, politician, and former world heavyweight champion. After retiring from boxing in 2013, Klitschko was elected Mayor of Kyiv, Ukraine in 2014 and currently holds the post.
