‘VICIOUS’ PAT MCCORMACK DESTROYS DIMITRI TRENEL TO CLAIM ANOTHER FIRST ROUND TKO WIN

Pat McCormack pummelled Dimitri Trenel with a “vicious” performance to make it back-to-back first round stoppage wins.

One of boxing’s hottest prospects, McCormack took just 95 seconds to force the referee to step in and save his French rival from further punishment, at the Vertu Motors Arena.

The spiteful McCormack forced two knockdowns before the contest was waved off and the Olympic silver medallist moves to 2-0 as a professional – with both wins coming by TKO in the opening round.

“Pat was in vicious mood in Newcastle and his first-round demolition of Trenel was even more impressive than the first-round stoppage on his debut,” said Sam Jones, Probellum’s Head of Talent Relations.

“McCormack is ready, right now, for title fights and I will repeat what I said during the week – he beats Harry Scarff and Ekow Essuman.  He is special and showed that tonight.  That was a devastating performance.

Following the first knockdown of Trenel, McCormack urged his opponent to beat the count and carry on fighting.

Trenel got to his feet but would not last much longer as McCormack refused to let him off the hook.
