Last night on EstrellaTV’s Boxeo EstrellaTV, Hafit “Lobo” Talavera (9-0-0 & 1 KO’S) defeated Ernesto Salcedo (14-2-0 & 11 KO’S) by majority decision, 96-94, 96-94 and 95-95, in a 10-Round Silver Super Gallo fight for the WBC FECARBOX Silver Super Gallo Title. The series occurs the last Friday of each month, and last night, the fights were broadcast from the Yucatán Siglo XXI Convention Center in the city of Mérida, Yucatán.

Salcedo had full control of the first four rounds by using a boxing style which forced Talavera to alternate between right and left guard. Talavera added points for his cause but didn’t hurt Salcedo. In the first rounds, the judges’ decisions were mixed, 38-38, 36-40 and 37-39, leaving fans in doubt who felt Salcedo clearly dominated.

Although Talavera brought his best, throwing punches from all angles, he failed to connect with Salcedo, who was in better physical condition, ultimately complicating the night for Talavera.

The last round was controlled by Talavera though, who came very close to getting the knockout. The judges surprised fans with their scoring, 94-96, 94-96 and 95-95 in favor of Talavera. The final decision was delayed by several minutes in what seemed like a warning something strange was happening. The decision took the fans by surprise, and they didn’t believe it.

In the co-main event, Emiliano Toscano vs. Harold “Maravilla” Cervera, the judges gave a tie 58-56, 56-57, 56-58, a controversial score because the referee misjudged a Cervera head butt, and ended up dropping a point to Toscano, an error that could have changed the final score.

Ángel Patrón claimed victory after beating Brian Sánchez by effective knockout, 30 seconds into the third round, after receiving an accurate hook to the liver that put him on his knees on the canvas.
