Dalton Smith spoke to Boxing News’ Rob Tebbutt ahead of his fight with Sam Maxwell in Sheffield.

Dalton Smith, excited to be competing in his hometown, shared his enthusiasm and confidence with Boxing News. The Sheffield boxer appears focused and eager to step into the ring this weekend.

“Always a pleasure, I’m feeling good and excited to go. I’ve had a great camp and feeling fit, strong, and can’t wait to get in there now.”

Smith discussed his recent training period in the United States with renowned boxing coach Manny Robles. Returning to the UK and adjusting back to Sheffield’s climate took a couple of days, but he smoothly transitioned back into his training camp. The experience seems to have invigorated the boxer, elevating his passion for the sport.

“Going out to America just broke it up, and it made me fall in love with boxing a little bit more. I’ve been flying.”

Anticipating Maxwell’s Tactics

When quizzed about his expectations from Sam Maxwell, Smith acknowledged the opponent’s power and achievements. However, he also believed that Maxwell may struggle to cope with his movement and angles. He pointed out a sense of nervous energy from Maxwell, which could play into his hands come fight night.

“I always say expect whoever I’m getting in with is Mike Tyson. Sam’s a good fighter, he carries power, but I think he’s pretty one-dimensional, and he’s going to struggle with the movement, the angles.”

When asked about the fight’s outcome, Smith remained tight-lipped, offering a tantalizing hint of a possible knockout but preferring to keep fans in suspense.

“A big performance from Dalton, knockout – we’ll see.”

The Hometown Glory

The fight carries additional significance for Smith as it is set in his hometown. The local lad is relishing the opportunity to headline a fight in Sheffield and is eager to put on a stellar performance for his fans.

“It’s my hometown, it’s what I’ve always wanted to do, and I’m here living a dream.”

Smith seems well-prepared and focused on his upcoming fight against Maxwell. His fans and the boxing world are eagerly waiting to see how he brings his preparation into the ring.
