Rising Star Promotions Returns to NJ with Cards on Nov. 4 in Newark and Nov. 12 in Atlantic City Inbox

New Jersey promoter and middleweight contender Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna is bringing two Rising Star Promotions cards to the Garden State next month:

Brick City Fight Night: Round Three on Friday, Nov. 4, 7:00 pm (doors at 6:00 pm) at the Robert Trent Hotel (50 Park Place) in Newark, N.J. and Boardwalk Boxing: Rising Star Series Rd. 3 on Saturday, Nov. 12, 7:00 pm (doors at 6:00 pm) at the Showboat Hotel (801 Boardwalk) in Atlantic City, N.J.

As is the case with Rising Star shows, both cards will feature a combination of top area veterans and rising prospects from the Tri-State region, providing plenty of action for boxing fans.

In the eight-round Main Event in Newark, welterweight Mike “Artist” Perez of Newark (25-3-2, 11 KOs) faces Juan De La Cruz Rodriguez (10-17-1, 7 KOs) of Front Royal, VA, while fan favorite super flyweight Anthony “Big Back” Johns (4-0, 3 KOs) of Newark, N.J. will tangle with Nicaraguan Jenn Gonzalez (9-14-1, 5 KOs), now fighting out of Louisiana, in the six-round Co-Main Event.

Undefeated heavy puncher Kurt Scoby (9-0, 7 KOs) of Brooklyn, N.Y. will go for his tenth win in an eight-round super lightweight contest against Raymundo Rios Cardiel (4-9-2, 3 KOs) of Durango, Mexico.

Four-rounders scheduled for Newark include super lightweight Jamir “King Cobra” Cope (2-0, 2 KOs) of Teaneck, N.J. against New York’s Carlos Nunez (0-2-1), and middleweight James Abraham (1-0, 1 KO) of Queens, N.Y. taking on Elijah Hasman (0-1) of Portage, Mich. Middleweight Gian Garrido (6-0, 4 KOs) of Queens will fight a six-round bout (opponent TBD).

A pair of fighters will make their pro debut as super middleweight John McDonagh of Queens, N.Y faces Elijah Hasman (0-1) of Portage, Mich., while Piscataway N.J. lightweight Gabriel Gerena is scheduled for a four-rounder versus an opponent TBD.

Tickets for Newark are priced at $65, $90, $155, and $200 and can be purchased at the door (cash only).

One week later, down at the shore, Emmanuel “Salserito” Rodriguez (12-0, 7 KOs) of Newark, N.J. by way of Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, looks to continue his winning ways taking on Manual Manzo (8-7-3, 4 KOs) of Fresno, Calif. in the Main Event, an eight-round super bantamweight contest.

Anthony Andreozzi fights in the danger zone / “Turf War 4” on Feb. 18th in Melrose, MA

In a pair of six-round bouts, Albanian heavyweight knockout artist Kristian Prenga (11-1, 11 KOs), fighting out of Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada, is scheduled to face Alvin Davie (7-3, 6 KOs) of Miami, Fla., while middleweight Robert “Tiger” Terry (7-0, 1 KO) of Jersey City looks to remain unbeaten, going up against Jimmy Williams (18-9-2, 6 KOs) of Plainfield, N.J.

After his successful pro debut in August at Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City middleweight Justin “Time” Figueroa (1-0, 1 KO) returns to take on Jeremiah Kendrick (1-2, 1 KOs) of Philadelphia, Pa. in a four-rounder. Other four-rounders featured are: featherweight Saleh Ali (0-0-1) of North Bergen, N.J. against Ecuador’s Jose Luis Fracica (0-2); heavyweight Derek Starling (4-1, 3 KOs) of Philadelphia, Pa. taking on Carlos Black (2-6, 1 KO) of Baltimore, Md.; pro-debuting super flyweight Jay Llano of Englewood, N.J versus Gerald Fundenberg (0-1) of Atlantic City, N.J. (0-1); and middleweight Isiah Hart (6-3-1, 4 KOs) opponent TBD.

Rounding out the Boardwalk Boxing card will be a pair of lightweight six-rounders from lightweight Terrell Bostic (7-1, 1 KO) and Justin Pauldo (14-1, 7 KOs) of Houston, Tex. (both opponents TBD).
