Throughout his six-year professional career, Joshua Greer, Jr., has never shied away from a challenge and his next bout is no exception. Greer will look to bounce back from his last two outings in an August 14 contest with former world title contender Jason Maloney.
The two will face off in a 10-round bantamweight fight at Hard Rock Live at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa on ESPN+. The bout was initially set to take place in April of 2020 but that card was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The August 14 match-up will be Greer’s 2021 debut and his first fight since a November draw with Edwin Rodriguez in the Top Rank bubble. Fight night will mark nine months to the day since Greer last fought, but he has been working diligently with coach Kay Koroma since his last fight.
“It’s exciting and every day is a different challenge. It took me some time to adapt to a new coach and a new environment but we have developed great chemistry,” Greer said.
In addition to his work with Koroma through multiple training camps in Houston, Colorado Springs and Las Vegas, Greer has gotten the chance to train alongside elite fighters at every level over the last year. He says those training sessions provided him with valuable insight in to what it takes to reach and stay at the top level in the sport.
Koroma and Greer have been hard at work in training camp in Las Vegas since June preparing for his August 14 bout and the Chicago native is looking forward to showcasing the results of the work they’ve done.
Greer and Maloney will battle for the WBC Silver Bantamweight title on August 14 and the bout will be shown on ESPN+ as part of the stacked undercard prior to the ESPN televised tripleheader featuring Maloney’s twin brother Andrew in a third contest with Joshua Franco.
