Kelly now faces Gabriel Corzo on July 15, live and exclusive around the world on DAZN at 2 pm ET
29-year-old Josh Kelly and the unbeaten Argentinian fighter, Gabriel Corzo go to battle tonight live on DAZN
“Josh has been hitting the gym hard, full of anticipation for this comeback fight before his supporters,” explained Kalle Sauerland, Global Head of Boxing at Wasserman Boxing. “Unfortunately, an injury has forced us to delay the match by three weeks. However, come July 15, I have no doubt that Josh will be ready, determined to wow the boxing world with his skills, all under the spotlight of DAZN.”
Wasserman Boxing and DAZN, the global broadcasting powerhouse, are joining forces to propel Kelly’s pursuit of the world title. This partnership will spring into action at the Vertu Motors Arena next month.
Kelly, currently standing second in the global rankings, is fully aware that defeating Corzo will put him within an arm’s reach of the undisputed championship bout against Jermell Charlo. But Corzo, undefeated and ranked ninth, isn’t going to step aside easily. He’s got his eyes set on his own world title dreams, and he plans to cause an upset to Kelly’s trajectory.
This night will also bring the much-anticipated return of heavyweight contender Nathan Gorman, Codie Smith’s display of exceptional skills in his second professional fight, and another chance to witness the talent of Chloe Watson, the rising star of women’s boxing in the country.
Newcastle’s heavyweight, Steve Robinson, is set to duke it out with Franklin Ignatius in a memorable clash of the titans. In addition, fan-favorite Ben Marksby will be continuing his super lightweight journey.
In Kelly’s own words: “Defeating Corzo in Newcastle brings me closer to the world title. I’m thrilled to collaborate with DAZN and aim to deliver a memorable performance that will resonate around the world.”
Gabriel Corzo, however, is brimming with confidence, declaring, “I have no doubt, come fight night in Newcastle, Kelly’s dream of the world title will end, and mine will get tantalizingly closer to reality.”
DAZN, partnering with Wasserman Boxing, is committed to delivering captivating boxing nights, says Joe Markowski, CEO of DAZN North America. “In 2023, we aim to build upon this collaboration, providing fight fans with the action they crave. We’re excited to follow and broadcast every step of Josh Kelly’s journey towards the World Title shot.”
‘Pretty Boy’ Kelly is currently the talk of British boxing. Despite suffering a defeat against David Avanesyan, the talented 2016 Olympian continues to rise. Many dismissed him after the loss, but his spectacular victory over Troy Williamson last December silenced the critics, marking a strong first stage in his comeback.
