Steve Claggett, Canada’s own junior welterweight hotshot, is set to throw down with the hard-hitting Miguel Madueno. This showdown is slated for Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Casino De Montreal, packing a punch in a 10-round headline fight. Claggett, hailing from Calgary, is gunning to add another victory to his seven-fight winning spree, with the NABF and NABO titles hanging in the balance.
The evening’s co-main event packs its own punch. Steven Butler, a middleweight contender who’s twice vied for the world title, is all in to bounce back against Iron Alvarez in a 10-round rumble.
Eye of the Tiger’s promotion is bringing this electrifying fight night to life. The Claggett-Madueno and Butler-Alvarez fights, along with a thrilling undercard, will be streaming live in the U.S. Tune into ESPN+ at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT for all the action.
Claggett (36-7-2, 25 KOs), a veteran of 15 years and undefeated since 2021, is making waves with a 3-0 record in 2023, including two stoppages. He clinched the NABF title in June, stopping former world champ Alberto Machado in the third round, and later outboxed Carlos Sanchez in September. Madueno (30-1, 28 KOs) is riding high on a knockout spree, having floored his last three opponents following a decision loss to Jezreel Corrales last November.
Butler (32-4-1, 26 KOs), a Montreal native, is jumping back into the ring post a knockout loss to WBO middleweight king Janibek Alimkhanuly in May. Pre-Janibek, Butler was on a Canadian winning streak, securing four consecutive wins. Facing him is Alvarez (32-14-4, 21 KOs), a 14-year pro, fresh off a unanimous win against Damian Sosa.
